Proposal: Measurement of a JND Scale for Video Quality

چکیده
1.1 IEEE JND Project In early 1998, the IEEE G-2.1.6 Subcommittee on Video Compression Measurements initiated a "Task Force to define a unit of measure and means of calibration for video quality analysis." This effort was lead by Leon Stanger. In the interim the Task Force has discussed various methods that might be used to derive an absolute scale of video quality. This document describes a specific proposal that might satisfy the needs of the Task Force.

VideoSet: A Large-Scale Compressed Video Quality Dataset Based on JND Measurement
A new methodology to measure coded image/video quality using the just-noticeable-difference (JND) idea was proposed in [1]. Several small JND-based image/video quality datasets were released by the Media Communications Lab at the University of Southern California in [2,3]. In this work, we present an effort to build a large-scale JND-based coded video quality dataset. The dataset consists of 22...
متن کاملMeasurement of visual impairment scales for digital video
The study of subjective visual quality, and the development of computed quality metrics, require accurate and meaningful measurement of visual impairment. A natural unit for impairment is the JND (just-noticeable-difference). In many cases, what is required is a measure of an impairment scale, that is, the growth of the subjective impairment, in JNDs, as some physical parameter (such as amount ...
متن کاملAdaptive Block-size Transform based Just-Noticeable Difference model for images/videos
In this paper, we propose a novel Adaptive Block-size Transform (ABT) based JustNoticeable Difference (JND) model for images/videos. Extension from 8 8 Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) based JND model to 16 16 DCT based JND is firstly performed by considering both the spatial and temporal Human Visual System (HVS) properties. For still images or INTRA video frames, a new spatial selection strate...
متن کاملPrediction of Satisfied User Ratio for Compressed Video
A large-scale video quality dataset called the VideoSet has been constructed recently to measure human subjective experience of H.264 coded video in terms of the just-noticeable-difference (JND). It measures the first three JND points of 5-second video of resolution 1080p, 720p, 540p and 360p. Based on the VideoSet, we propose a method to predict the satisfied-user-ratio (SUR) curves using a ma...
متن کاملColor Spatio-Temporal JND and Its Application to Video Coding
A method which reveals the visual masking in the human visual system (HVS) is useful in perceptual data coding. In this paper, we propose a color DCT-based method to estimate color spatio-temporal just noticeable distortion (JND) for video coding. The spatio-temporal JND profiles are assessed by incorporating a new temporal masking adjustment into the mathematical model of estimating the DCTbas...
